There’s nothing quite like the look of an iron fence. To keep your iron fence looking just as good as the day it was installed, follow these tips below!
Iron Fence Care Tips
Clean the Fence
You might not think you need to clean a fence, but it will make a difference in how your fence looks. All you need is a bucket of warm water, a little dish detergent, and a rag or towel. Rinse on a regular basis for best results!
Inspect the Fence
Checking your iron fence for rust, cracks, loose poles, or other problems is a great way to be proactive about fence maintenance. Instead of one day discovering that a large portion of your fence is rusted, you’ll catch and fix small rust spots early to keep your fence looking beautiful.
Removing Rust
Speaking of rust, it’s fairly easy to remove. You can use sandpaper or steel wool to remove it, and then apply a rust-proof primer followed by paint. Read our blog on how to remove rust from an iron fence for more information.
Fixing a Bent Fence
It’s not easy to bend iron, but things like fallen limbs can put a dent in the fence. It’s also, however, not easy to fix bent iron. It requires use of a blowtorch and hammering, which is best left to a professional fence company like Hercules Custom Iron!
Painting an Iron Fence
Is the paint on your iron fence chipping or bubbling? A little iron fence maintenance will take care of that. Read our blog on painting an iron fence for more information.
