If there’s one place of recreation that requires a fence, it’s a tennis court. Unless you want the ball to go flying off into the distance every time you serve another ace past your opponent, you’ll likely want a fence to contain the tennis ball. So what’s the best fence for a tennis court? There’s no absolute best choice, but chain link is probably the most practical for the following reasons:
Chain Link Tennis Court Fence
Tennis balls are not terribly big, and therefore need a fence that doesn’t have large gaps in it. While an ornate iron fence might have gaps at various points, a chain link fence is consistent in size, and the gaps aren’t large enough for a ball to pass through. These gaps also allow plenty of airflow through to the court to keep you cool. Chain link fences can be built to great heights, so you won’t have to worry about the ball sailing over the fence. Finally, chain link fences are durable, and hold up well to constant exposure to the elements.
Note that in the photo below, the tennis court is surrounded by both a chain link and iron fence. However the iron fence is on top of a pre-existing wall, which serves as the barrier on one side of the court. On the other side of the court where there was no barrier in place, a chain link fences completes the enclosure.
